Palazzo Estense, seat of the Varese town hall. Headquarters of the Municipality of Varese. The villa and its large park are the work of the Milanese chamber engineer Giuseppe Antonio Bianchi. The palace was the residence of Francesco III d'Este, Duke of Modena and Reggio who obtained the fiefdom of Varese from Maria Theresa of Austria.On the facade overlooking the gardens there is a sundial surmounted by the sculpture of an eagle, symbol of Austria . The park is frequented daily by the inhabitants of Varese.
