Larderello in Toscana. Geothermal power plant for electricity production

Larderello with geothermal power plants for the production of electricity through the steam of the earth. From the early nineteenth century, the boraciferous shower heads common to Larderello have been used for the production of boric acid. The shower heads of the Devil’s Valley have been known since ancient times. Dante drew inspiration from the steam released from the ground to set the Divine Comedy. Today the energy released by steam is used to power plants for the production of electricity. The large condensation towers are now part of this area of the Tuscan landscape. Larderello con le centrali geotermiche per la produzione di energia elettrica attraverso il vapore della terra. Dai primi anni dell’ottocento i soffioni boraciferi  sono utilizzati per la produzione dell’acido borico. I soffioni della Valle del Diavolo sono noti sin dall’antichità. Il poeta Dante trasse ispirazione dal vapore sprigionato dal terreno per ambientare la Divina Commedia. Oggi l’energia sprigionata dal vapore è utilizzata per l’alimentazione delle centrali per la produzione di energia elettrica. Le grandi torri di condensazione fanno ormai parte di questa zona del paesaggio toscano.
