Portoro marble quarries on the island of Palmaria, near the Cinque Terre in the municipality of Portovenere. Portoro is a very precious and rare black marble with gold-colored veins. In the past, the quarries shown in the photograph were active on the island of Palmaria. These quarries are currently abandoned.
